Community members (women, men and children) are invited to sew a quilt block 13" X 13" inspired by themes related to Manoomin. Master quilter, Alice Williams will sew the blocks together to make a quilted wall-hanging dedicated to the gifts that Manoomin brings us.

Examples of Mnoomin themes that could be explored: Our Nishnaabeg migration story, the crawlers, the swimmers, the four leggeds and the flyers that thrive in our mnoomin beds. The nourishment mnoomin provides. The harvest, the preparation (roasting, winnowing and eating), the season of when it ripens, under which moon it ripens and images of the seed and stalk.

The blocks have to be completed and handed to Alice Williams by Wed. Sept. 14.  Along with your quilt block please have a story to go with it.
The quilt will be exhibited at the 3rd annual gathering of Mnooninkewin on Saturday Sept. 24th at the Pow Wow Grounds at Curve Lake F.N.

If you have any questions, please email Alice Williams at alwilliams@trentu.ca or by phone at 705-657-3319.

This project is in partnership with the Curve Lake Cultural Centre and the O'Kaadenigan Wiingashk Collective.
